From $17.00

Rhythmic gymnastics knee pads that protect the knees in floor elements, turns and catches without restricting movement. They are thin so they don't bulk under the leotard, and come in sizes S and L and in five colours: neon pink, neon yellow, neon coral, lilac and black. They also work for dance.

What are knee pads used for in rhythmic gymnastics?
In rhythmic gymnastics, the knees frequently touch the floor during floor elements, controlled drops, slides, turns on the knee and apparatus catches. Knee pads cushion this repeated contact and serve three purposes:
- Cushion impacts during floor elements and jump landings.
- Help prevent rubbing and carpet burns, common minor injuries when sliding across the carpet.
- Build confidence: a gymnast who is not afraid of the impact can complete the element without holding back.
Unlike volleyball or basketball knee pads, rhythmic gymnastics knee pads are much thinner and more discreet: they need to protect without creating bulk under the leotard or interrupting the body line, which is part of the score.
Rhythmic gymnastics knee pads for children
Younger gymnasts need them most: they are learning floor elements and repeat the same movement many times during training. Choose thin knee pads that stay in place without needing constant adjustment. If they move, they stop protecting the area where they are needed. We offer children’s and adult sizes, with several colours to match the leotard or the rest of the kit.
How to choose the size
Choose the size by measuring the leg around the knee, rather than by age. Use a tape measure just above the kneecap, with the leg straight and relaxed, and select the corresponding size on the product page. Two practical tips:
- Neither loose nor leaving marks: they should stay in place when the knee bends without marking the skin or restricting circulation.
- Check the size each season: growing gymnasts often outgrow last year’s knee pads before their leotard.
Care and cleaning
To maintain their elasticity and fit, hand-wash in cold water with mild soap and air-dry away from radiators. Avoid tumble-drying, ironing and bleach: heat and bleaching agents damage the elastic and make the pads slip. Keep them in the training bag alongside your rhythmic gymnastics toe shoes, so you do not have to remember to pack them every day.
Frequently asked questions
Are knee pads compulsory in competition?
They are not compulsory under the rules, but they are permitted and many gymnasts wear them for routines with more floor work. Always check your federation’s current rules for your category.
Are they worn under or over the leotard?
They are worn directly against the skin, under the leotard’s leg opening where applicable. Thin pads are less noticeable and preserve the appearance of the routine.
Can I use knee pads from other sports?
It is not ideal. Volleyball and basketball pads contain much more foam and are designed for isolated, strong impacts; in rhythmic gymnastics, they restrict movement and show under the leotard.
