Discover Vinkova rhythmic gymnastics hoops: light, durable and perfectly balanced for confident throws, rolls, rotations and catches. From a first training hoop to the FIG-approved sizes used in senior competition, every model grows with the gymnast — and comes in several colours to match her leotard.

What size rhythmic gymnastics hoop should you choose?

The diameter must match the gymnast's height and age: too big is hard to control, too small limits the elements. A simple rule of thumb: stood upright on the floor, the top of the hoop should reach roughly hip height. Use this guide:

Age (approx.) Recommended diameter
4 to 6 years 70 cm
7 to 8 years 75 cm
8 to 10 years 75 to 80 cm
10 to 12 years 80 to 85 cm
13 and up (junior / senior) 85 to 90 cm (FIG approved)

On the rules side, the FIG Apparatus Norms set an inner diameter of 80–90 cm for seniors (70–90 cm for juniors) and a minimum weight of 300 g (260 g for juniors), measured unwrapped. Before a competition, always check your federation's current regulations — official measurements can vary by category and season.

Training hoop or wrapped hoop?

The training hoop is the everyday workhorse: tough and affordable, it takes repeated throws and knocks in the gym without complaint.

The wrapped hoop is covered with coloured adhesive tape for better grip, a glossy finish on the carpet and a look that matches the leotard. It's the usual choice for competitions and galas — many gymnasts keep a training hoop for daily practice and save the wrapped one for competition day.

Rhythmic gymnastics hoop FAQs

How much does a rhythmic gymnastics hoop weigh?
FIG rules require a minimum of 300 g for seniors and 260 g for juniors, unwrapped. Beginner hoops for the youngest gymnasts can be lighter.

How is hoop size measured?
By the inner diameter, from inside edge to inside edge. An “85 cm hoop” measures 85 cm on the inside — that's the measurement the rules refer to, and the right reference when choosing a size.

Can I wrap a hoop myself?
Yes — any training hoop can be wrapped with coloured adhesive tape to improve grip and give it a competition finish.
