How to measure a gymnast

Step 1/4 - Measure the chest

To measure the chest correctly, place the measuring tape around the fullest part of the chest.

Step-by-step instructions:

  1. The gymnast should stand relaxed with arms at her sides.
  2. Pass the tape around the back and bring it forward, encircling the chest at its fullest point.
  3. Ensure the tape is straight and parallel to the floor, neither too high nor too low.
  4. The tape should be snug but not tight, allowing for normal breathing.
  5. Record the measurement in centimeters.

Step 2/4 - Measure the waist

To measure the waist correctly, place the measuring tape around the narrowest part of the waist.

Step-by-step instructions:

  1. The gymnast should stand relaxed with arms at her sides.
  2. Pass the tape around the back and bring it forward, encircling the waist at its narrowest point.
  3. Ensure the tape is straight.
  4. The tape should be snug but not tight, allowing for normal breathing.
  5. Record the measurement in centimeters.

Step 3/4 - Measure the hip

To measure the hip correctly, place the tape measure around the part of the hip with the greatest volume.

Step-by-step instructions:

  1. The gymnast must be standing, relaxed, and with her arms at her sides.
  2. Pass the tape around the back and bring it forward, encircling the waist at the most prominent area.
  3. Make sure the tape is straight and parallel to the floor.
  4. The tape should be snug but not tight, allowing for normal breathing.
  5. Record the measurement in centimeters.

Step 4/4 - Measure the height

We need the distance from the top of the head to the floor, with the gymnast completely upright.

  1. Place the gymnast standing, barefoot.
  2. She must remain straight, with feet together, legs straight, and looking forward.
  3. Make sure the back is upright and the head is aligned with the body, without tilting forward or backward.
  4. Utilize a wall as a reference: The gymnast should lean gently against the wall with heels, back, and head straight.
